I know that you are asking for how to deal with new version for Vertex Currency Server, here you may find your answer.
Q1: What is new in this version?
In this version of Vertex Currency Server you will note that prices showing in the Currency Server window, flexibility to determine the feed for your currency server either DDE feed or Excel sheet or by backup feed, and the ability for define new symbol.
Q2: How can you define new symbol?
By right click in the server application (Vertex Currency Server) window from the pop-up menu choose New Symbol then fill all information required in the dialog window was displayed. This dialog has two parts; the first has Symbol Name and PIP Location and the other has DDE Sources which separated into two parts:
o Link Topic: this item it depends on your feed source.
o Link Item: here you type the source for your symbol.
Note:
The optimal way for define Link Topic and Link Item is by copy your symbol from your feed to excel sheet then from the formula bar the left side of (!) mark is for Link Topic and the right side for Link Item.
The source of your Symbol in BO must be as your Symbol Name in your currency server and its case sensitive.
[FONT=Times New Roman]Q3: How you can make your feed from ExcelSheet?
[SIZE=3]In simple way you can do that by change the Link Topic from DDE Source to be as the following format EXCEL|[Excelfilename.xls]SheetName, and you have to change Link Item to be as Row# followed by Column# (# = The number of symbol in the excel sheet) i.e. R5C6.
Q4: Can I define my symbol based on multi DDE Server?
Yes, of course you can by change DDE Source information for the desired symbol.
By this feature you can specify each symbol by different DDE Server.
